Why is Chesapeake Family Wellness Howard County’s Premier Chiropractic Practice?

At Chesapeake Family Wellness our most important concern is how YOU feel. We want your life to be healthier, more active and pain-free, and we will do all we can through conservative chiropractic care to make that happen. While your pain may be presenting itself in your wrist or your lower back, for example, we work on all the surrounding areas as well to alleviate pressure and other irritation. We believe in educating our patients, guiding them to recovery and helping them work toward a pain-free future.

We believe in whole body wellness as opposed to focusing primarily on symptoms. This method of conservative chiropractic care leads to faster recovery times and helps with the prevention of future injury.

About Chesapeake Family Wellness

Exam: In your first exam we will take the time to understand your situation, your particular aches and pains, and your experiences that may have contributed to those pains. We want our goal for you to be your goal, as well.

Plan: We develop an individualized plan for each of our patients. We do not believe in caring for our patients with a cookie-cutter approach. Our ultimate goal is that you will experience safe, gradual improvement that will make your life better.  During your treatments, we will adjust the plan accordingly, if needed.

Treat: Your treatments will incorporate the appropriate methods of chiropractic manipulation and exercise for your situation. Healing is a process, and we want you to be comfortable. While you are under our care, we will work with you and for you not only until your pain is controlled or eliminated, but beyond that with regular adjustments to prevent it from returning.

Dr. Colquitt sees your body as a self-healing machine, that, if given the chance, you can experience maximum performance and overall health throughout your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s a good tip to keep in mind at all times: chiropractic adjustments are not for amateurs! Although certain movements or positions may cause your back to “crack” (otherwise known as the popping noise that you hear during some adjustments), spinal manipulation is a very specialized technique, for which Doctors of Chiropractic work very hard to perfect. In fact, at-home adjustments may be totally counterproductive and could potentially lead to injury. We may be able to give you some helpful personalized exercises to do at home. So instead of letting your husband/wife/teenager/cousin/friend walk on your back, leave the adjusting to a professional!

If you’ve been injured, it is important to see a Doctor of Chiropractic as soon as possible. If you’ve been in a car accident, the effects may not be felt until a week later, and by that time you may have internal scarring that is difficult to remedy. Even if you aren’t necessarily in pain, getting into your chiropractor’s office within a couple of days post-injury can help speed up the healing process, get you out of pain faster, and lessen the amount of pain you may eventually feel. Furthermore, by taking good care of yourself between chiropractic visits (i.e., eating a healthy, well-balanced diet, participating in approved exercises, and getting appropriate amounts of rest), you will help speed up your own recovery process.
No. While massage generally concentrates on muscles throughout the body, chiropractic adjustments concentrate on optimizing the functions of the nervous system, the spinal column, and overall body structure. However, many chiropractic offices do offer massage therapy as well.
No. You only receive chiropractic care as long as you wish to. Many of our regular patients opt to visit us once a month for basic readjustment, which will help keep your body toned.
It depends on your goals! Ask Doc first, but if you are working on fixing your posture, optimizing your nervous system functions, or correcting unhealthy areas of your spine, you would commonly get adjusted even without having pain or discomfort!

Great Experience Overall!

Friendly staff, very casual and low key. It’s nice that they have movies to watch during stim/traction/etc. Doc seems to know his stuff, has helped my scoliosis and regained a lot of range of motion. Wish I knew chiropractors could do this long ago.

Excellent Chiropractor & Facility!

I always feel good after leaving. Other chiropractors limit you to 2 or 3 types of adjustment. In addition to spinal decompression, Dr Colquitt gives 8 adjustments! Excellent value. Pain in neck and back almost eliminated. Still working on a few minor issues. Office staff is very friendly – they make you feel like part of their family.
