3 Great Ways to Kick Up Your Summer Fitness

3 Great Ways to Kick Up Your Summer Fitness

It’s officially August, which means school is just around the corner, and the end of summer is near. However there are still a few weeks of fun in the sun! Between the concerts at Merriweather Post Pavilion, Ocean City trips, backyard cookouts, and baseball games, Maryland summer is filled with activities we want to look our best for. So whether you’ve got an Orioles game with family, or a romantic beach getaway planned, you may be looking for a way to stay motivated with your fitness goals through the end of summer! After all, Thanksgiving and the holidays will be here before we know it, and we want to start those months out on the right foot! So we’ve come up with 3 great ways to kick up your summer fitness and end the summer strong!

Let’s kick it up this August!

  1. Get a workout buddy! We strongly believe in having someone to hold you accountable to achieve your goals. Finding a friend to go to yoga or a spin class with will help you stay consistent! We have also found that sharing meal prep duties can be fun as well as time saving! Grab a friend or two and plan out a weeks worth of healthy meals. Divide up the different parts of each dish and assign each buddy a responsibility for cooking a part! Having an accountability buddy can drastically help you stick to your goals!!
  2. Plan a weekend adventure! We’ve talked previously about a digital detox, and now more than ever we are recommending you to take one! Plan a weekend full of good food and physical activity, away from cellphones, emails, and major responsibilities. Taking a relaxing mini-vacation and allowing your body and mind to take a rest can help your fitness goals immensely!
  3. Start a new training program. The sheer fact that the end of summer is creeping near could be the motivation you need to kick it up a notch and start a new fitness program! Start by taking the time to write out a list of goals. Order your goals in level of priority, and an estimate of how long you think they will take you. Then, write how you wish to execute each goal. If your goal is to run a 5K in October, maybe download an app to your phone that can calculate your running pace while training. Or if your goal is to eat more nutritious food, download an app like MyFitnessPal to hold you accountable. Technology with fitness watches, apps, and trackers has made it incredibly easy to stick to your fitness goals! So take advantage of them!

We truly hope in this month you apply at least 1 of these 3 great ways to kick up your summer fitness routine. One of our favorite quotes is from Zig Ziglar, and we wish you leave them with you today:

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”
